An exclusive opportunity has arisen at an independent Trust, Fund and Corporate Service provider based in Jersey. The firm has an excellent reputation, and this role is a great opportunity for a Compliance professional looking to take the next step in their career.

The Head of Risk and Compliance is the designated Regulatory Compliance Officer for the Jersey office as well as covering other jurisdictions. The key responsibilities include identifying and mitigating Regulatory and AML/CFT risks, establishing a compliance framework, and providing guidance to ensure adherence to legal requirements and industry best practices.

Additionally, they lead the Compliance Governance team and contribute to the Risk and Compliance Committee.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster a culture of compliance throughout the Jersey office.
  • Act as Money Laundering Reporting Officer, Money Compliance Reporting Officer, and Compliance Officer as required by Jersey legislation and the company’s policies.
  • Offer compliance advice on new services and serve as a member of the Risk and Compliance Committee.
  • Oversee the Compliance Monitoring Plan and maintain compliance registers.
  • Manage the Compliance Team’s performance and objectives.
  • Act as the main liaison with regulatory bodies, such as the JFSC.
  • Ensure compliance with the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018.

MLCO Responsibilities:

  • Regularly monitor and test compliance with anti-money laundering and counter-financing of terrorism controls.
  • Report compliance status to the Board and respond to regulatory requests.
  • Keep up to date with AML/CFT/CPF legislation.
  • Provide training on regulatory matters.

MLRO Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs).
  • Manage relationships with law enforcement authorities.
  • Act as the liaison point with regulatory bodies.
  • Monitor deputy MLROs’ performance.

Key Competences / Skills / Experience / Behaviours Required:

  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and technical skills.
  • Preferably, experience in corporate and fund compliance.
  • Senior management experience in Risk and Compliance.
  • Possess relevant professional qualifications, such as the ICA International Diploma in Governance, Risk, and Compliance.
