We’re seeking a detail-oriented and highly experienced Senior Accountant to join a dynamic finance team in Jersey. In this role, you'll be responsible for managing end-to-end accounting functions for a diverse portfolio of clients within the financial services sector.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, a solid understanding of financial services operations, and the ability to build strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Portfolio Management: Lead the accounting function for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory frameworks.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, management accounts, and board reports.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure timely submissions of regulatory filings such as FCA returns, VAT, and corporation tax filings.
  • Audit Support: Manage audit processes including preparation of audit packs, liaison with auditors, and addressing audit queries.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting quality.
  • Team Collaboration: Support junior team members, share knowledge, and collaborate across teams to ensure service excellence.
  • Client Advisory: Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing insights and recommendations on financial performance and best practices.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: ACA, ACCA or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in an accounting role, with significant experience working with a variety of clients.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS; working knowledge of financial regulations applicable to the sector.
  • Systems: Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar); advanced Excel skills.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial information clearly.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and accountability in all financial matters.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a practice environment or outsourced finance function.
  • Previous exposure to hedge funds, private equity, or regulated investment firms.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based accounting platforms and automation tools.
