About the role

Our client is seeking a Trust & Tax Manager to join their award-winning Private Client team.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years’ experience, be confident, able to meet deadlines and manage a busy workload. Experience preparing and managing trust accounts and tax returns is essential, with many clients being high-net-worth individuals and families. Attention to detail, strong trust accounting experience, and solid compliance knowledge are key.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing self-assessment income tax returns and capital gains tax returns on land disposals for trusts, estates, and individuals

  • Preparing annual trust accounts and handling related compliance matters

  • Preparing inheritance tax returns relating to exit charges, ten-year charges, and termination of life interests

  • Arranging payment of tax and corresponding with HMRC as required

  • Managing FATCA and CRS compliance

  • Registering trusts on HMRC’s trust register and maintaining it

  • Liaising with trustees, beneficiaries, investment advisers, and other professionals

  • Attending annual trustee meetings where appropriate

  • Monitoring key dates such as beneficiaries’ birthdays and ensuring deadlines for tax returns and payments are met

This role does not involve line management responsibilities.

Skills and Competencies

  • Meticulous and diligent

  • Strong analytical and communication skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word

  • Experience with CCH tax and accounting software is highly desirable

Preferred Qualifications

  • ATT or CTA qualification is advantageous
